Grab your bike or your walking shoes and hit the streets of Windsor next weekend on Sunday September 23rd for an event that’ll give you a chance to explore your city from a whole new perspective. For the third year in a row, Windsor will be closing off an 8km route for cars and opening it up to pedestrians. From Sandwich in the West to Ford City in the East, you can explore everything the event offers by checking out each individual area which offers unique events, entertainment, food and fun for the whole family. You can learn something new, meet up with friends, shop from local vendors, visit businesses you may have never explored before and enjoy unique live entertainment in a whole new setting.
Each participating area offers a different neighbourhood experience and you can take the event at your own pace as it runs from 10:00am until 3:00pm. Whether you challenge yourself to bike the whole thing or selectively choose which areas to explore on foot, you’re sure to find a vibe you’ve never experienced before.
Previous years saw thousands walking and biking the route and it’s always cool to see streets that are normally packed with cars, bustling with pedestrians on bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, in wagons or just walking along enjoying the experience.
If you’ve never had a chance to check out Open Streets, do yourself a favour and catch it this year. The experience is unlike any other and it’s a solid excuse to get some extra steps in or meet up with friends to get out of the house.
